Drawing on early visual memories of cartoons, comics, and 8-bit games, Danielle Bobier's oil and cold wax compositions are minimalistic representations of barren imagined landscapes, populated by house-shaped icons, flaming auras, physiographic and meteorological phenomena. These symbolistic works touch on primal anxieties, representing the role of internal worlds when coping with the inevitability of death. The resulting paintings offer iterative meditations on mortality, detachment, balance, pleasure-seeking, and escapism.
